Volodymyr Zelensky announces that he wants a meeting with Vladimir Putin

The Ukrainian president said he was ready for a “meeting at the level of the leaders”, including Vladimir Putin, to advance the discussions to end the war this Friday, August 1.

The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, repeated his desire to meet Vladimir Putin in person to try to advance the discussions this Friday, August 1. The proposal remains for the moment discarded by the Kremlin.

“We understand who makes decisions in Russia and who has to end this war,” said Volodymyr Zelensky on social networks, adding that Ukraine was ready “at any time” to a “meeting at the level of leaders.”

Putin claims to want a “lasting peace”

Russian President Vladimir Putin also said Friday that wanting a “sustainable peace” in Ukraine this Friday, while stating that the peace conditions proposed by Moscow, namely, kyiv renounces the territories and renounces NATO, remained “without changes.”

“We need lasting and stable peace, on a good basis that would satisfy Russia and Ukraine,” Putin said during a meeting with his Bélarusian counterpart Alexandre Loukachenko. “The conditions (peace of Russia), of course, do not change,” he added.

Moscow demands that Ukraine sells four Ukrainian regions that the Russian army partially controls (Donetsk, Lougansk, Zaporijjia, Kherson), as well as the Ukraine Peninsula of the Crimean Peninsula, in addition to these annexions, the Kremlin wishes Kyiv to renounce Western weapons and any membership in the entrance.

Unacceptable conditions for kyiv, who wants the withdrawal of Russian troops and western security guarantees, including the continuation of arms deliveries and the deployment of a European contingent, which is opposed to Russia.

The negotiations to find a diplomatic result to the conflict launched by the great large -scale offensive of Russia against Ukraine, in February 2022, are in point in a dead way.

Production of the Orechnik series launched

Putin also said on Friday that Moscow had launched the production of the Orechnik series, its latest generation hypersonic missile that can use a nuclear load.

Last year, Russia used Orechnik, without nuclear load, to hit a military factory in the city of Dnipro, in the center of Ukraine. Together with his counterpart Bélarus, Mr. Putin repeated that Moscow could soon deploy these missiles in Bélarus, an ally of Moscow and border from several NATO countries and the EU.

“Our specialists, military specialists who are blurred and Russian, have chosen the location for future positions (missile batteries, note). And now the work to prepare these positions is underway,” Putin said.
