A 76 -year -old man was accused and placed in prior detention to trial in the United Kingdom, suspected of having poisoned children with sweets mixed with sedatives in a vacation camp in the center of England.
John Ruben, who lives near Nottingham, appeared briefly on Saturday, August 2 before the Court of Leicester, where he rejected his identity and was imprisoned waiting for a next audience on August 29.
The Prosecutor’s Office had announced the position of this man the day before, for acts of cruelty to three young people who participated in the vacation camp. For this, he would have used sweets mixed with sedatives, he was indicated during the audience according to the British agency PA.
Eight hospitalized children
The events occurred in a holiday camp located in Stathern, in Leinteshire, organized between July 25 and 29. The local police said they were informed on Sunday that several children housed at the stathern Lodge, an old renewed farm, “did not feel good.”
Eight children, children from 8 to 11 years old, and an adult was taken to the hospital “as a caution”, but everyone was allowed to leave later, he said. John Ruben was arrested Monday night in a nearby pub.
Police police, the IAPC, said it investigates how the Local Police has handled this incident. “The investigation will determine whether there have been deficiencies (…) that led to a delay in the LeiSeseshire police response,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
