Four people, including one in Chilean nationality and two Civil Protection officers, died on Tuesday in a plane accident in Jijel, in eastern Algeria, Civil Protection said in a press release in their social networks.
“There was a serious plane crash in the Wilaya in Jijel, at the Ferhat Abbas airport, killing its four occupants involved in a training and air improvement mission,” writes civil protection. The four victims “carried out their professional duty,” even according to the same source.
Two officers, a Chilean instructor and director of the pilot school
Among them, Lieutenant Colonel Berdji Redouane, commander of the Civil Protection Air Group, and Captain Ghalia Desiib, a apprentice pilot. However, the Algerian authorities did not communicate the name of the Chilean instructor of the Air Tractor Company or that of the Director of the Aptata Pilot Training School.
According to the Civil Protection, the accident took place aboard a firm-142-type recognition plane built by the Czech company ZLIN. On the other hand, the exact circumstances of the accident and its cause were not shared in the press release.
