New deadly shooting in the United States. An armed man killed a police officer on Friday, August 8, near the headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, in the United States, before being found dead on the scene, authorities said.
The shooting exploded before 5:00 pm (9:00 pm GMT), near a CDC campus and a pharmacy, said Atlanta police chief Darin Schierbaum during a press conference.
The shooter found dead
The suspect, probably an isolated shooter according to the police, was found dead on the second floor of a pharmacy, victim of a ball injury that could have been inflicted.
“The shooter died and no civilian was injured by the shot during this shooting,” said the mayor of Atlanta, Andre Dickens.
The CDC campus has cleaned several shots, he said. Ninety -two children of a nursery located on this campus were safely evacuated and found their families in a neighboring school.
Coronavirus vaccine and suicidal trends
The shooter, whose identity was not revealed, believed that his illness was caused by the Vaccine against Coronavirus, CNN and the New York Times reported to mention anonymous sources.
According to these media, the father of the suspect reported Friday morning to the authorities that his son had suicidal tendencies.
The police chief did not want to confirm at this early stage of the investigation if the suspect pointed to the CDC due to the coronavirus vaccine.
33 -year -old victim
The police officer during the attack, David Rose, was 33 years old and left a pregnant woman and two children, police said.
The centers for disease control and prevention together form the main federal agency in the United States in terms of public health protection.
“We are deeply sad for the attack perpetrated today against our Royal Campus,” wrote Susan Monarch, director of the CDC, in X, while paying tribute to the “brave agent of the Local Police that gave him life.”
“We are grateful to all those who respond to Call of Duty and who protect their fellow citizens,” said Georgia’s governor Brian Kemp.
