A coyote attacked a six -year -old boy in Master Park, Carson, California. The young victim was bitten and scratched by the animal before being rescued by her mother, this Monday, August 4, reports Los Angeles Times.
“I kept biting and I was trying to kick him. It was too fast and jumped. I did the best I could, but it didn’t work, so I cried,” he said in the microphone of the local Ktla-TV channel. The boy attended a softball game in which his sister participated.
“I thought it was a dog”
The child’s mother, who was close, tells the US media that they had become “hysterical” and that they managed to scare the coyote. “At first, I thought it was a dog, but immediately shouted and as soon as the coyote bit him, I ran towards him and noticed that it was a coyote, then I began to make noise,” informed ABC News Channel.
The latter also made a report to the Fishing and Wildlife Department of California. The child’s leg, open due to bites, has been curved by 20 points. It also suffers from wounds located in particular on the face and neck.
A call to prudence
Therefore, his mother asks the inhabitants near the park to be “more attention” to the coyotes. “There are many, I see it on the street when I drive, but I didn’t think I could get so close to us.”
According to Citizens for Los Angeles Wildlife, cited by ABC News, the coyotes have become more visible from the population in California due to “the loss and fragmentation of their habitat.” Therefore, while “their natural habitat is invaded and urbanized”, these animals have less and less places to go.
