In his social network of truth, Donald Trump reported “Great Progress” with Russia this Sunday, August 17, two days after his summit in Alaska with Vladimir Putin, who did not allow progress on a high fire in Ukraine, and on the eve of the reception in the White House of Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders.
For his part, Donald Trump’s special emissary, Steve Witkoff, said Russia had made “territorial concessions” with respect to five Ukrainian regions.
“The Russians made certain concessions to the table (negotiations in Alaska on Friday, note of the editor) on the five regions (in eastern Ukraine). There is an important discussion about Donetsk and what will happen there,” said Steve Witkoff on the CNN channel.
“Solid security guarantees”
“We have agreed solid security guarantees,” added Steve Witkoff, adding that these guarantees could “change the game.”
For their part, the European allies of Ukraine showed their desire to block Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky by announcing that he would accompany him to the White House on Monday, August 18 for a meeting with Donald Trump.
This decision occurred on Sunday a few hours before a videoconference of the “voluntary coalition”, which brings together kyiv’s support, on the result of the recent Trump-Puttine summit in Alaska.
“I am optimistic about the fact that we will have a productive meeting on Monday, that we will reach a real consensus, that we can return to the Russians and advance this peace agreement, and conclude it,” said Steve Witkoff in CNN.
