More than 343,000 hectares have burned in Spain since the beginning of the year, a constant increase that constitutes a registration for the country, according to updated data of the European Forest Fire Information System (EFFI), an indicator of the European Copernicus Observatory.
The year 2022 was so far the worst in terms of area devastated by the flames in Spain, with 306,000 hectares calcined.
Portugal has had the European history since the beginning of the statements in 2006, with 563,000 hectares burned in 2017, during the fires that left 119 dead.
