“It is the opposite of the Internet.”

The prime minister launched his podcast on YouTube on August 5 to go to the French on August 5. But his very monotonous videos and his institutional tone, not very suitable for Internet codes, are struggling to convince Internet users.

“All politicians are well deserved.” All except one. This irreducible policy is François Bayrou. This summer, the prime minister decided to start a resentment to become YouTubeur.

On August 5, the politician launched his own YouTube channel, arrogant called FB Direct. The objective? Direction directly to the French, “without staging”, to give them their vision of the 2026 budget and, above all, convince them of the need to establish important savings criticized largely.

Monotonous rhythm and your teacher

“The prime minister is in a context of a strong opposition. It must bring difficult measures to accept,” observes Stéphanie Laporte, founder of the Social Media Otta agency, with Tech & Co. “so he tries to go through a more popular communication channel.”

The problem is that this new format is struggling to convince Internet users. The views of François Bayrou’s videos, followed by about 8,000 subscribers, are in free fall. If your first podcast accumulates more than 126,000 views, your other content does not exceed the visualization mark of 40,000. One of his videos limits 7,500 views.

It should be said that podcasts, which generally last less than five minutes, seem very long to see.

But above all, the tone of politics leaves something to be desired. “François Bayron adopts a very teacher tone, far from being adapted to YouTube codes,” says Stéphanie Laporte. “We cannot talk to Internet users with speeches, as if we were in the National Assembly.”

The fund, an essential youtube element

The first production of the Prime Minister offers a long definition of excess invention, evoking our “responsibility for future generations” and pointing to Internet users several times through the camera.

Another problem, framed and decoration. In fact, Matignon’s tenant made the decision to speak directly from his office. A sober decoration. Maybe a little too much for YouTube users, accustomed to hyper hyper videos in very colorful sets.

“He chose a neutral background, which says nothing about him. However, the rear plan of the streamers is an essential part of his videos. They talk about his personality,” Stéphanie Laporte observes. Rather, advise François Bayrou to select books, photos or even plants to cheer up the video.

In the same way, some of his face to face are badly framed. This is, for example, the case of the second video, “the least successful episode in terms of realization,” says Stéphanie Laporte. The podcast is presented in François Bayrou … Ultra Close -up. In general, “the angle of the videos is quite low, cups. The lighting is bad. It seems that it is a videoconference during the covid,” continues the expert.

Videos also promoting

The change of editorial line also seems to have left the Internet users doubtful. “We see that he is atas. He tries things,” confirms Stéphanie Laporte. “But it is still very institutional.”

François Bayrou, who initially embarked on the videos in front of the camera, finally had fun by publishing two reports. Therefore, we see it, in the video published on August 7, along with the firefighters fighting fires in Aude and then, the next day, with elected officials and inhabitants of Charente Maritime.

A staging away from the authentic and filter content promised by the politician, therefore. These videos would almost be seen as campaign clips. And this promotional content is far from pleased Internet users. The figures are final. The reports do not exceed 10,000 views. It is three times less than some videos in front of the camera.

Worse, in the fifth episode, François Bayrou decided not to respond to the French, but to Sophie Binet, general secretary of the CGT. “Sophie Binet wrote that the government chose to enter into force (with the budget, note). This is not true,” he begins in his video, before explaining his choice for four long minutes.

“It is the opposite of the Internet”

A choice that seems to have disgusted users. “It’s not serious. You open a YouTube channel to ‘exchange with the French’, they play the game, they leave you comments, but you never answer, and choose to answer … Sophie Binet who, unless she is wrong, did not leave a comment here,” exclaims a user under the video.

The promise of being able to “exchange” with the head of government is not celebrated. François Bayrou speaks alone, chooses the subject himself and never faces Internet users. Worse, when launching its channel, the comment space was simply … closed.

The prime minister, however, urged the French several times to respond. “If someone thinks that I am wrong, that he expresses himself. At the moment, I have not heard anyone say that this danger does not exist,” he proposes to the politician twice in his first video.

Since then, François Bayrou seems to have heard criticism and has been trying to straighten the bar. The comment space was open to Internet users. In his last format, the prime minister presented two solutions to help Internet users ask questions or provide suggestions for the 2026 Action Plan.

The formats and bet on spontaneity varies

Therefore, the French can participate by writing directly (at [email protected]) or through the new version of the Government Application of Agora. “These are very formal methods. The email is from the last century, we do not live the content,” Deplora Stéphanie Laporte.

For this, the social media expert advises you to interact more with your audience, add spontaneity and customize your background. The learning creator can also work in his publication calendar, for the quite random time and in the creation of different identifiable formats.

“Loyalty about YouTube is based on a calendar, not a political program,” adds Stéphanie Laporte. “You can, for example, make news reports, create coffee from formats with Bayrou ‘, in the morning, possibly make lives or even, if you start working, invite content creators or economists to try to understand how France could respond to tomorrow’s problems.”

François Bayrou is not the first policy to embark on social networks. Therefore, Jean-Luc Mélenchon dominates the French political youtube with 1.18 million subscribers. Several of his videos exceed one million views. “I knew how to adopt the tone of ‘Internet’ and vary the formats,” said Stéphanie Laporte. “In addition to the extracts of passages in the media or meetings, it offers formats where it is directed directly to the camera, occupying some of the YouTube codes and multiplying drilling lines” that have a strong virality potential, “concludes the expert.
