Russia affirmed on Saturday the capture of two villages in the Donetsk region, in eastern Ukraine, intensifying military pressure on the ground when diplomatic efforts are accelerated to find an exit from the conflict. In a statement about Telegram, the Russian Ministry of Defense said it had captured the towns of Sredneïe and Kleban-Byk in this region.
The taking of this last step towards the city of Kostyantynykka, an important bastion on the road to Kramorsk, which is an important point for Ukrainian logistics in the front of the Donetsk region. The Russian army has increased its territorial profits in recent months against less numerous and less equipped Ukrainian forces.
A peaceful regulation of the conflict that moves away
These advances occur when the perspective of a meeting between Russian and Ukrainian presidents, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, announced by US leader Donald Trump and destined to find a peaceful agreement of the conflict, is moving away.
The Russian diplomacy head Sergei Lavrov accused the Ukrainian president of blocking the organization of a possible meeting with his Russian counterpart on Friday, the day after the Ukrainian criticisms of Moscow.
For his part, Donald Trump, who wants to quickly find the result of the Russian against Ukraine launched in 2022 and has made a spectacular approach with Moscow in recent months to get there, he announced Friday to give “two weeks” to decide his line about this conflict. The Russian army currently occupies around 20% of the Ukrainian territory.
