An F-16 combat plane from the Polish Air Force crashed this Thursday, August 28, during preparations for an air show in Radom in the center of Poland, killing the pilot, said the government spokesman.
“Radom tragedy, during the air sample preparations, an F-16 plane crashed. Unfortunately, the pilot died,” said Adam Szlapka in X.
No one injured on the ground
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamsz, who went to the place, presented their condolences to the pilot’s family.
According to a Press Army press release, the accident did not cause wounds on the ground. The videos published in the media show that the device performs an acrobatic figure and then crashed on the runway in a fireball, the pilot trying until the last moment to straighten the plane.
The Radom air show, about a hundred kilometers south of Warsaw, must be held this weekend. The Polish Air Force had 48 American F-16 devices.
