A man was arrested and accused after going to the Russian consulate portal in Sydney, southeast of Australia with a car, said the police source.
The State Police of the South New Waler said in a statement that they had been called to intervene in the Russian consulate after the information indicating that an unauthorized vehicle was parked nearby.
The 39 -year -old man has climbed the near the consulate and entered the enclosure before returning to his vehicle, according to the same source.
Two slightly injured police officers
When police officers approached, “the vehicle accelerated, hitting the property portal and causing significant damage,” according to the same source. Two police officers were slightly injured and were served by emergency services, the press release added.
The suspect was accused of trying to enter the territory of the Consulate, for possession of a knife in a public place, as well as for the attempt of “destruction or degradation of goods.”
The images of a white car with two broken windows, immobilized next to a roller flag on the consulate grass, were published by local media.
According to an AFP journalist present at the scene, the main entrance portal of the consulate is slightly damaged. The Russian consulate and the embassy did not react immediately.
