A funicular derailed tonight on Wednesday, September 3, at night in Lisbon, killing at least 15 people and 18 wounds, including a French. “A serious accident that should never have happened” according to the mayor of the Portuguese capital Carlos Moedas.

At least a French woman is among the dozens of injured in the funicular accident that occurred in Lisbon this Wednesday, September 3, BFMTV learned from Quai d’Orsay. The last evaluation still reports 15 dead.

“The funicular accident that happened today in Lisbon is terrible. We assure our Portuguese friends of our solidarity and our support,” said Quai D’Orsay.

“The Portuguese authorities have already informed us that one of our compatriots was among those injured in the accident. Our consul general goes to his bed and remains in permanent contact with the Portuguese authorities in case other nationals are worried,” he added.
