Lightning in the UK. Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the British House of Commons, briefly interrupted debates on Thursday to support Queen Elizabeth II, following the release of a disturbing press release from Buckingham Palace. Her doctors say that they are indeed very “concerned” about the state of health of the 96-year-old sovereign.
The news circulated at noon in the lower house of parliament, in the midst of the debate over the announcements of the new prime minister Liz Truss on the energy crisis, after several political figures received a memorandum and left the chamber.
“Your Majesty is in our prayers”
Lindsay Hoyle finally spoke out after the royal statement was released. “I would like to say something about the statement that was made about Her Majesty,” said the Speaker of the House of Commons.
“I know I speak for the entire chamber when I say that we send Her Majesty The Queen our best wishes, and that she and her entire family are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.”
Since then, many British political figures have sent a message to the Queen. British Prime Minister Liz Truss said “the whole country” was “concerned” about her health.
