The Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, delivered on Thursday, September 25, a vibrant supplication for the Palestinian people of the Israeli “crimes.”
While Israel and the United States believe that the new wave of recognition of a Palestinian State is a reward for Hamas, Mahmoud Abbas said that the author of the Palestinian movement of the attacks of October 7 “will not have any role in the game in governance.”
An appeal to international recognition of the Palestinian State
“Hamas and other factions will have to make their weapons to the Palestinian authority,” said the forced manager to express himself by video during this UN General Assembly in New York, his visa was rejected by the United States.
“We reject what Hamas has done on October 7” that “does not represent the Palestinian people, or their correct struggle for freedom and independence,” he continued.
He also rejected “the confusion between solidarity towards the Palestinian cause and the question of anti -Semitism” opposed to “our values and our principles.”
Repeating the wages given a few months ago to convince France in particular to take the passage of recognition, Mahmoud Abbas called “all countries that have not yet done so to recognize the Palestinian State.”
On the occasion of a summit organized on Monday by France and Saudi Arabia about the future of the solution to two states, Palestinians and Israelis, which live together in peace and security, a dozen countries, including France, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, have formally recognized a state of Palestine.
The vast majority of UN Member States are in this line (at least 151 of 193, according to AFP verifications).
Mahmoud Abbas did not put his words against Israel, asking the international community to “support our efforts to stop genocide and occupation.”
After almost two years of war in the devastated Gaza Strip, “What Israel did is not a simple assault, it is a war crime and a crime against humanity (…) that will be recorded in the pages of the history books and in the conscience of humanity as one of the most horrible chapters of the humanitarian tragedy of the twentieth and twenty -first centuries,” he said.
Benjamin Netanyahu says that “I will not have been Palestinian”
Historic for its impulse, the recognition movement of a Palestinian state only has a symbolic meaning. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who will speak on Friday before the General Assembly, described these recognitions as “shameful submission to Palestinian terrorism” that “in no way forces Israel.”
“He will not have been Palestinian,” he decided.
On Friday, “I will denounce these leaders who, instead of condemning the murderers, the rapists, the burners of the children, want to give them a state in the heart of the land of Israel,” added the prime minister to Ben Gurion airport before leaving New York, according to a statement from his office.
The head of the Israeli government has been attacked since November 2024 by an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court for War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity in the Gaza Strip.
On Wednesday, the American emissary Steve Witkoff reported a new “plan in 21 points for peace in the Middle East and Gaza”, presented the day before by Donald Trump to several Arab and Muslim countries at a meeting.
“We are full of hope, and I would even say confidants, which in the next few days we can announce a kind of progress,” he said.
A new peace plan used by Trump and its allies
Donald Trump wants to “end up quickly” the conflict, said a White House official to the AFP, adding that the countries present at the meeting “had expressed their hope of working” with Steve Witkoff to study the project.
After almost two years of war against Hamas, the Israeli army launched on September 16 an important air and land offensive in the city of Gaza, the largest urban center in this territory, to eliminate what it presents as the last great bastion of the Hamas Islamist movement.
