France is ready to “contribute to the security of Danish airspace” after several drones overlap civil and military airports in Denmark this week, said President Emmanuel Macron this Thursday, September 25.
“I just met with the Danish prime minister, put Frederiksen. I told him about France’s full solidarity with Denmark after the repetition of unidentified drones intrusions that affect the operation of Copenhagen airport,” wrote the French president in X.
“France is ready to support Denmark to evaluate the situation and contribute to the safety of the Danish airspace,” added the head of state.
“Hybrid attacks”
The drones were seen on Wednesday night to Thursday above Aalborg, Esbjerg, Sonderborg and Skrydstrup airports. Already on Monday night, the originally unidentified drones had flown over the Copenhagen airport, blocking traffic for several hours.
“Hybrid attacks” that could “multiply,” Frederiksen said, believing that “there is mainly a country that represents a threat to Europe’s security, namely Russia.”
Russia has “firmly” denied being involved in these general views, its Embassy in Copenhagen denouncing an “orchestrated provocation.”
