For several days confronted with suspicious drone flying in their airspace and above the military sites, Denmark takes measures.
The Ministry of Transportation of the Kingdom announced this Sunday, September 28, prohibiting all civil drones flights next week in its territory to guarantee the security of the European Summit that will bring together the heads of government in Copenhagen.
“Denmark will welcome European leaders next week, and we will pay special security. Consequently, from Monday to Friday, we will close the Danish airspace on all civil drones flights,” said the ministry.
The track of a Russian operation
The unidentified drones overflows in the Danish Air Space since September 22 have led to the closing of several airports, which suggests a possible Russian participation.
New drones about military sites in Denmark were observed on the night of Saturday, September 27 to Sunday, September 28 for the second consecutive day, the Danish army announced Sunday.
“The Armed Forces confirm that drones have been observed in several of their sites during the night. Several media have been deployed,” said the army in a statement.
It has not provided other incidents or the army response.
Danish media reported that no airport had been closed during the night.
The base of the Danish army helicopter
The mysterious presence of drones in Denmark and Norway since September 22 has led to the closing of several airports, Copenhagen suggesting a possible Russian participation.
On Saturday, the Danish army said that drones had not previously identified “several military sites” at night from Friday to Saturday, but refused to reveal other details.
Police confirmed that “one to two drones” had been observed on Friday night near and above the Karup military base, the largest in the country, which houses all the helicopters of the Armed Forces, the surveillance of airspace, the pilot school and the support functions.
NATO has strengthened its surveillance in the Baltic after intrusions, said a spokesman for the Defense Alliance.
These reinforced measures include the deployment of multiple intelligence, surveillance and recognition platforms, as well as at least an air defense frigate, in the region in western Russia, said Martin O’Donnell, spokesman for the Alliance, during a press conference held during the night from Saturday to Sunday.
