Suspended at 625 meters high, the highest bridge in the world was inaugurated in China, this Sunday, September 28. Nicknamed “The Great Bridge of Huajiang”, the titanic structure has already welcomed several vehicles, which rise in the clouds, by a cross of 1,420 meters long.
Presented on the mountainous province of Guizhou, in the south of the country, the bridge overflows that of Beipanjiang, 565 meters above the same river one hundred kilometers in the same province, said the new official agency of China.
Three years of work
To achieve an architectural feat, the mountain had to divide in two, requiring almost three years of work and 22,000 tons of concrete and steel. The engineers, local officials and curious attracted by the ceremony expressed their pride in the media against spectacular result.
“The opening of the Gran Canyon bridge of Huajiang was reduced from two hours to two minutes for the travel time between the two sides” of the throat, welcomed the main conference of the Department of Transportation in the province, Zhang Yin.


A massive investment in infrastructure
The project is part of a planning plan to exit to connect the Chinese villages between them, explained in August Mao Ning, the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of China.
Thanks to the global influence of this inauguration, China hopes to impact the economic and social development of the country. The entry to the service of the new bridge is a new demonstration of the massive investment of China in an important infrastructure for decades characterized by rapid growth and urbanization.

The largest bridge in the world for the total height of its structure (and not the vertical between its apron and the lowest point below) remains the millau viaduct (south of France), with 343 meters.
