The Red Cross said on Wednesday, October 1, “forced” to temporarily suspend its activities in Gaza-Ville temporarily due to the intensification of Israeli military operations, while warning that “tens of thousands of people” who remained in the place faced “terrible humanitarian conditions.”
“The intensification of military operations in Gaza-Ville has forced the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to temporarily suspend its activities in its Gaza-Ville office and relocate its staff in its offices in southern Gaza Strip, to guarantee the safety of the equipment and the continuity of the operations,” he said in a statement.
And for a good reason: the bombings are accentuated. This Wednesday, Gaza’s civil defense indicated that at least 46 people had been killed by Israeli and fire strikes throughout the Palestinian territory, including 36 in Gaza-Ville.
29 bodies transported to the Al-Maamadani hospital
Mahmoud Bassal, spokesman for civil defense, a rescue organization that operates under the authority of the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, reported 36 dead in several strikes that attacked Gaza, in the north of the territory, especially the west of the city.
Seven bodies were transferred to the Al-Chifa hospital and 29 to the Al-Maamadani hospital, he said. The Israeli army, who has led an important offensive in Gaza city since September 16, said “hitting a Hamas terrorist in the north of the Gaza Strip.”
“Before the attack, measures were taken to limit the damage caused to civilians as much as possible,” he said.
In the center of the territory devastated for almost two months of war, six people died in a drone strike in Al-Zawayda, and two in the Nousseira Camp, added Mahmoud Bassal.
Two people were also killed by the Israeli fire near a distribution center in the south of the Gaza Strip, according to the same source.
