Vilnius airport in Lithuania closed several hours after an alert for the suspect of “balloons”

The airport of the Lithuanian capital Vilnius reopened after several hours of interruption of traffic after an alert about the approach of the suspicious “balloons”.

Europe alert. The airport of the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, reopened the morning of Sunday, October 5 after several hours of traffic interruption after an alert about the approach of the suspicious “balloons”.

These incidents are increasing throughout Europe, EU members suspect that Russia is the cause of the general description of sensitive sites since the incursion of at least 19 drones in the Polish sky in early September.

The airport, which had been notified at 10:16 pm (9:16 pm French hour) for the closure of its airspace by the Navigajica gold surveillance agency, reopened at 04:50 premises (03:50 French hour), approximately twenty minutes after the initial time, he said on Facebook.

“Balloon series approaching”

In a previous message, he had mentioned a “possible series of balloons in the approach” to justify this measure. The planes that are supposed to land in the capital have been confused with Kaunas (Central Sur), Latvia, Poland or turned around, while Helsinki’s flight was canceled.

This interruption of air traffic in Vilnius occurs just after a similar case in Germany, Munich, where the airport closed two nights in a row on Thursday and Friday due to drone alerts, before reopening on Saturday.

Copenhagen and Oslo airports were also forced to temporarily suspend their operations in September.
