The Israeli army announced this Wednesday, October 15, that the fourth body returned by Hamas was not that of a hostage.
“After examinations carried out at the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, the fourth body delivered to Israel by Hamas does not correspond to any of the hostages,” indicates the Israeli army in X.
“Hamas must make all necessary efforts to return the deceased hostages as stipulated in the agreement,” the military added.
20 live hostages released
Under the exchange agreement signed by Israel and Hamas as part of the truce sponsored by US President Donald Trump, the Palestinian Islamist movement has committed to returning all hostages still held in the Gaza Strip.
Three of the four remains returned this Tuesday night were identified as those of Israeli hostages, the families of Ouriel Baruch, Eitan Levy and Tamir Nimrodi indicated this Wednesday morning.
Hamas on Monday released 20 live hostages kidnapped during the Oct. 7, 2023, attack and began returning the remains.
