The French president, Emmanuel Macron, estimated this Tuesday, October 21, that the ceasefire remains “very fragile” in Gaza and requested the reopening of the entry points to the territory, “an absolute emergency”, to bring humanitarian aid.
“The situation remains very fragile and we know it. It is important that Hamas fully respects the commitments it has made (…) and that the pressure is maintained so that the ceasefire is fully respected,” he said during a press conference in Ljubljana with the Slovenian Prime Minister, Robert Golob.
We must “move immediately, and this is of absolute urgency, to the reopening of humanitarian bridges and the various humanitarian routes so that aid, food and basic care can be provided to the population,” he added.
“Help the injured”
And that “we can come to the aid of the wounded, of all the people, of the most vulnerable families who must be removed from the territory of Gaza to be treated in the region’s hospitals,” the French president continued.
Emmanuel Macron also insisted on the need for a resolution to be adopted “as soon as possible” in the UN Security Council to have an “international framework for both (for) the governance and security” of the future of Gaza.
The heads of State and Government of the nine countries of the European Union (EU) bordering the Mediterranean Sea, meeting this Monday in Slovenia, demanded the “immediate release of all humanitarian aid for Gaza” and asked the Israeli Government to open “the Rafah crossing, but also other border points” for this purpose.
