The Russian Ministry of Defense announced this Monday, October 27, that it had intercepted 193 Ukrainian drones during the night from Sunday to Monday, an attack that left one dead according to local authorities.
A minibus driver was killed and five passengers were injured in the village of Pogar, Aleksandr Bogomaz, governor of the Bryansk region bordering Ukraine, said Monday morning on Telegram.
Among the drones counted, 47 flew over the Bryansk region and 40 over the Moscow region, most of which were heading towards the Russian capital, according to the Ministry of Defense.
The suspended dialogue
Since the start of its offensive three and a half years ago, Russia has launched drones and missiles almost daily against Ukraine, which regularly responds by attacking Russian territory. Kyiv is stepping up its attacks and targeting Russian energy infrastructure in particular.
On the diplomatic level, US President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that he would not “waste time” scheduling a new meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, without an agreement in sight to end the conflict in Ukraine.
For its part, Russia denounced on Sunday “attempts” to undermine its “constructive” dialogue with the United States.
At the end of September, Moscow exercised total or partial control over 19% of Ukrainian territory, according to AFP analysis of data provided by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), which collaborates with the Critical Threats Project (CTP).
About 7% (Crimea and areas of the Donbass industrial region) were already controlled before the Russian attack began in February 2022.
