Hurricane Melissa: provisional report shows 10 dead in Haiti after floods

At least ten people have died in Haiti due to flooding caused by Hurricane Melissa, which has been hitting the Caribbean region for several days, local authorities told AFP on Wednesday, October 29.

The La Digue river, in the coastal town of Petit-Goâve (south), overflowed and swept away several people, according to the town’s mayor and the general director of a local hospital, stating that more than ten bodies have been found and that searches continue to find the missing.

Torrential rains
