“God save the king.” Liz Truss says that Elizabeth II was “a pillar for modern Britain”

The new British prime minister, Liz Truss, reacted to the death of Queen Elizabeth II by remembering her as “a pillar for modern Britain” and promising support for the new king.

“We are all devastated by the news we have received. The Queen’s death is a great shock to the world. Elizabeth II was a pillar for the new United Kingdom”, begins by saying the head of the British Government.

Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom died this Thursday in Balmoral, Scotland, where the closest family circle traveled throughout the day.

Elizabeth II died at the age of 96, having been on the British throne for 70 years.

On Thursday morning, the Queen’s doctors were “concerned for Her Majesty’s health” and recommended “medical supervision”.

“The Queen continues to feel comfortable and at Balmoral,” the brief statement said.
