Ukraine’s armed forces have lost between 10,000 and 13,000 soldiers since the start of the war against Russia in February, presidential adviser Mikhailo Podoliak told Ukrainian television on Thursday.
Ukraine’s latest official estimate of its military losses dates back to last August, when the army chief of staff announced nearly 9,000 deaths. “We have official figures from the General Staff, we have official figures from the high command and they amount to between 10,000 and 12,500 to 13,000 dead,” he said.

Much higher Russian losses according to a close friend of Zelensky’s
Last month, a US general estimated that more than 100,000 Russian soldiers had been killed or wounded in Ukraine, adding that Ukrainian forces had “probably” suffered similar losses.
An adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Oleksi Arestovitch, said on Wednesday that the death toll in Russia was about seven times that of Ukraine.
