Russia is taking ‘relevant measures’ against drone attacks in Kiev

Russia is taking “relevant measures” to protect its facilities from drone strikes in Kiev, the Russian presidency announced on Tuesday, just hours after it denounced that an attack caused an airport fire.

“The line of continuity of these terrorist attacks, openly adopted by the Ukrainian regime, is a dangerous factor. Therefore, we take it into account and take appropriate measures,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

The governor of Russia’s Kursk region, a province bordering Ukraine, said a drone strike had caused an airport fire.

The accusation came a day after local Russian authorities accused Kyiv of unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) attacks against two Russian Air Force bases.

Russia on Monday accused Kiev of attacking military airfields in Ryazan and Saratov, bases of Russia’s strategic aviation hundreds of kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

Three people were killed and four injured in these drone raids, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

In August, Ukraine carried out a series of attacks on military bases in Crimea, including Saki Airport, on the peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014.

The Kremlin said today that Russia’s Security Council has discussed issues related to the country’s “internal security” with President Vladimir Putin.
