The social network Twitter announced this Monday that it would launch a new subscription system that includes a verification system with the famous blue seal, after several delays by Elon Musk, owner of the company since October.
“On Monday, we’re relaunching Twitter Azul. Sign up on the web for $8 a month or $11 a month on iOS devices — Apple’s operating system used on iPhones — to access subscriber-exclusive features, including de azul,” the social network said through posts.
The document stated that this badge would be gold for corporations, while a gray badge would later be added for “governmental and multilateral” organizations. The blue badge is awarded to subscribers “once the account has been reviewed”.
Subscribers will also be able to edit their tweets, publish higher quality videos, enter a reading mode and change their name on Twitter, and display their name or profile picture, though it was clarified that “if they do, they will temporarily lose the blue seal.” until your account is reviewed”.
“Thank you for your patience as we work to improve Twitter. We are excited and look forward to providing more information soon,” the social network said.
Musk announced in November his decision to delay the platform’s payment verification program until November 29 until he can guarantee it’s “rock solid,” though the deadlines have been extended.
Musk’s decision came after several days in which users of the social network who had opted to pay $7.99 per month reported being unable to access Blue Twitter’s features.
The new payment model proposed by the billionaire was reportedly shelved after leading many users to impersonate reputable entities, damaging the reputation of companies or public figures.
