At least two people have been killed and five injured in Russian airstrikes in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine, the region’s governor said on Sunday.
Kievan troops regained the city of Kherson in November, with Moscow’s army retreating to the left bank of the Dnieper River.
“The enemy has again attacked the residential areas of Kherson,” the governor, Yaroslav Yanushevich, announced on his Telegram account.
The Russian army has bombed a maternity hospital, a cafe and residential buildings, according to the governor.
After Kiev regained the city, Russian forces began bombing and destroying the city’s basic infrastructure. Electricity has been restored “in 90%” of the region, the governor said.
In Odessa, further west along the Black Sea, power is “gradually” being restored, although 300,000 people are still without power, according to the region’s governor Maksym Marchenko.
Authorities also reported “water supply disruptions” in some areas of the city.
