The Russian drone strike in the Ukrainian capital this morning hit an administrative building and four residential buildings, the kyiv Military Administration said on Wednesday.
“Fragments of drones (unmanned aerial devices) hit an administrative building” in the Chevchenkivsky area, the Military Administration of Ukraine said in a statement released by the Telegram messaging system.
According to reporters from Agence France Presse, the public building mentioned in the statement was partially destroyed at the site.
“Four residential buildings” were “slightly” damaged, the same statement read.
In recent weeks, Russia has attacked Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, affecting power supply to millions of people who need heating due to the drop in temperatures.
However, the Ukrainian head of state said that the Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense system today shot down “a total of 13 drones” launched by Russia during the attack on kyiv.
“The terrorists started with 13 Shahed,” refers to Volodymyr Zelensky’s message, referring to Iranian-made “kamikaze drones” (unmanned aerial devices).
According to provisional information, “a total of 13 drones” were shot down by anti-aircraft defense systems, added the Ukrainian president in the same transmission through social networks.
Before, the mayor of kyiv had already indicated that there had been several explosions in the Ukrainian capital.
“Explosions in the Shevchenkivsky district. Services [de emergência] they are on their way”, Vitali Klitschko wrote on the Telegram platform.
The official added at the time that the air defense system had shot down 10 Iranian-made drones over kyiv and around the capital.
So far, authorities have not reported any casualties, according to kyiv authorities.
