The adventures of Asterix and Obelix will have a new author. Fabrice Caro, better known as Fabcaro, will give life to the Gallic people.
The comic’s 40th issue will launch on October 26, 2023, following the tradition of publishing books in the fall of odd-numbered years, publisher Albert René has revealed. Albert Uderzo will accompany Fabcaro on this adventure, and will continue to be in charge of choosing who will draw the comics.
Asterix and Obelix are the main characters of a town of brave Gauls created by Uderzo and René Goscinny in 1959, and have been a bestseller ever since. “Asterix et le Griffon” was published in 2021 and sold more than 1.5 million copies in two months. Fabcaro, 49, is the fourth author of the stories, after Goscinny, Uderzo and Jean-Yves Ferri.
In 2023, “Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom” will be released, the fifth film of the characters in real image. The feature film will feature Guillaume Canet, playing Asterix, Gilles Lellouche, in the role of Obelix, and also with the presence of the Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
