The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, today called for solidarity with Ukraine, but also with the “vulnerable, those who are alone, the forgotten and the ignored”, in a video message posted on Twitter to wish them a Merry Christmas .
Metsola appealed to European values and called for solidarity “with those who are fighting in Ukraine, with those in prison in Belarus, with those on the streets in Iran.”
The conservative policy also highlighted the “need to ensure dignity for all, for those who are struggling to survive” and are unable to “heat their homes” or “feed their children”.
Metsola also referred to those who arrive “in damaged boats looking for a new life” and to those who want to “live and love who they want”, also mentioning the need for “empowerment, equality and justice”, especially for women who suffer. they abuse and fight to have the same rights as men.
In the message, he also called for an end to racism, discrimination, antisemitism and intergenerational poverty.
The president of the European Parliament did not refer to the corruption scandal over the alleged bribery of Qatar that is being investigated by the Belgian justice and for which the MEP Eva Kaili, dismissed by Metsola as vice president, is accused.
