Zelensky appeals to the “courage and bravery” of the people and says that “no drone” erases Christmas

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, underlined this Saturday, in a message of hope to the country on the occasion of Christmas, the “difficult circumstances” that the Ukrainian people are going through, appealing to their “courage and bravery”.

“We will return freedom to all Ukrainians,” Zelensky said in a speech released by the Ukrainian presidency, stressing the unity of the Ukrainian people and saying that “no drone is capable of erasing the Christmas dawn.”

“We will see its light even if it is underground in a bomb shelter. We will fill our hearts with warmth and light, ”she said, praising the“ iron spirit ”of the Ukrainian people.

Zelensky assured that the fight “will continue” and “will not be threatened by scheduled or emergency blackouts.”

“We will never lack courage”, added the Ukrainian head of state, stressing that, after so much “bitter news”, it is time for “good news”.

Zelensky encouraged citizens to celebrate the holidays “as usual”, “singing Christmas carols louder than the sound of a generator” or congratulating family members, “even if communication and internet services are not working.”

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.

More than 7.8 million people have fled the war in Ukraine to other European countries, with another 6.5 million internally displaced, according to recent United Nations figures.

The exact number of civilian and military casualties in ten months of war is unknown, but several sources, including the UN, have admitted that it will be high.

Information published by the two sides about the course of the war cannot be immediately verified by independent sources.
