China, Russia conclude joint naval military exercises

China and Russia have completed naval military exercises, which began a week ago, in waters east of China, the official Chinese news agency Xinhua reported on Wednesday.

The exercises, called “Naval Interaction”, have been held annually since 2012.

The drills were carried out in “bad sea conditions”, Xinhua said, adding that the two navies had completed various operations, including “block and hold”, “rescue”, “air defense” and “anti-submarine”.

On the Chinese side, the destroyer ‘Baotou’, the missile-launching frigates ‘Binzhou’ and ‘Yancheng’, submarines and airborne radar systems participated, and on the Russian side, the destroyer ‘Admiral Shaposhnikov’, as well as other ships and supply vessels. . .

The naval exercises took place off the coastal cities of Zhoushan and Taizhou in the eastern province of Zhejiang, about 500 kilometers from the northern coast of the island of Taiwan.

Since the start of the conflict in Ukraine in February, China has called for respect for the “territorial integrity of all countries,” including Ukraine, and attention to the “legitimate concerns of all countries,” referring to Russia.
