Light and heavy vehicles piled up, with several people trapped inside the vehicles, along the Zhengxin Huanghe Bridge in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou. That was the result of a chain collision involving more than 200 cars this Wednesday. One person died in an apparent accident.
The reduced visibility of the dense fog felt in Zhengzhou city, Henan province, “caused a traffic accident with the collision of several vehicles,” said the television station CCTV, which quoted the city government and also accounted for a fatality after the chain shock.
Images and videos of hundreds of cars piled on the bridge over the Yellow River are circulating on social media.

In one of the videos published on social networks, one of the people trapped in the car can be heard saying that what he experienced was “very scary”. “I don’t think we can get off the bridge,” he said.
CCTV indicated that cars traveling on the bridge in both directions were involved in several accidents due to poor visibility caused by thick fog.
According to The Guardian, about 11 rescue vehicles and several rescue teams were on the scene.
Due to the fog, visibility was less than 500 meters in many areas, up to 200 meters, the meteorological service said, quoted by the British newspaper.
