Davos Forum kicks off this Monday with record participation of leaders

The World Economic Forum begins its annual meeting this Monday in Davos, which will last until the 20th, with an expected record attendance, with 52 heads of state and government.

The title of this year’s meeting is “Cooperation in a fragmented world”, ideal for finding solutions to the current economic, energy and food crisis, according to the organization.

“To resolve the root causes of the loss of confidence, we need to strengthen cooperation between governments and the private sector, creating the conditions for a strong and sustained recovery,” said the founder and CEO of the Forum, Klaus Schwab, presenting this 53rd edition edition

The organization indicated that it will have 2,700 representatives from 130 countries, having highlighted the participation of more than fifty heads of state and government, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the presidents of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos, and from South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, as well as the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

China indicated that Vice Premier Liu He, considered the “architect” of Chinese economic policy in recent years, will attend the meeting.

Nearly a year after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the conflict and its effects on global energy and defense policies will occupy much of the debate at Davos.

With the Russians absent for the second year in a row, a Ukrainian delegation is expected in Switzerland and President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to speak remotely.
