Boris Johnson signs memoir contract

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has signed an agreement to write a memoir about his troubled period in office, which began with a promise to “finish Brexit” and ended with controversy and his resignation.

Publisher HarperCollins revealed Monday that the as-yet-untitled work will be a memoir about a prime minister “unlike any other.”

Johnson became prime minister in July 2019, scored a major election victory in December, and took the UK out of the European Union. [Brexit] next year.

He then led the UK through the covid-19 pandemic, which led to his being admitted to intensive care, and in the first months of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

On the other hand, it has been involved in several scandals related to its finances and ethics.

Boris Johnson was forced to resign in July 2022 after dozens of members of his government walked out in protest.

No date has yet been set for the book’s publication, and financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

“I look forward to working with Boris Johnson as he writes his account of his tenure through some of the biggest events the UK has seen in recent memory,” said Arabella Pike, editorial director of William Collins.

Johnson, a former journalist, has written several books, including “The Churchill Factor,” about former Prime Minister Winston Churchill during the war.

In 2015, the curator signed a contract for a book on William Shakespeare, which was initially scheduled for publication in 2016 and then postponed indefinitely.
