These messages were interpreted as support for the large protests sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody, after being detained by the police for not wearing the Islamic headscarf in accordance with Islamic law.
Ilanlu is one more person condemned for supporting or participating in these protests, of young people and women who demand more freedoms and the end of the Islamic Republic, and which the Iranian government has harshly repressed.
At least 2,000 people were accused by the Iranian Justice of various crimes for their participation in the mobilizations, 17 were sentenced to death, four were executed and hundreds were sentenced to prison.
Nearly 500 people were killed in the protests and nearly 20,000 were detained, according to the Oslo-based NGO Iran Human Rights.
The protests lost strength significantly after the executions of the four demonstrators and in recent weeks there have been almost no demonstrations on the streets of the country.
