A threatening warning. On Thursday, the former Russian president and now vice chairman of Putin’s powerful security council, Dmitry Medvedev, warned NATO allies that a possible Russian defeat in Ukraine could trigger nuclear war.
The Kremlin’s alerts to NATO increase as Western countries announce, in turn, the delivery of weapons or tanks in support of the Ukrainian army.
“Nuclear powers have never lost major conflicts”
“The defeat of a nuclear power in a conventional war can trigger a nuclear war,” Dmitry Medvedev said in a Telegram message.
According to the former president from 2008 to 2012, “the nuclear powers have never lost the great conflicts on which their destiny depends.”
These strong statements echo those of the head of the Orthodox Church during his Epiphany sermon. For him, destroying Russia would mean the end of the world.
