Ukrainian Deputy Infrastructure Minister Vasyl Lozynskyi, who was responsible for the development of communities and territories in Ukraine, was arrested on Saturday by the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (NABU). The information was confirmed this Sunday by the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO).
According to the Kyiv Independent, Lozynskyi is suspected of having received a $400,000 bribe to help a company purchase generators.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Infrastructure confirmed on social media that Lozynskyi was arrested and fired as a result of this case.
The government of Ukraine allocated $45.7 million last summer to repair critical infrastructure to provide electricity, heat and water to Ukrainians during the winter.
According to SAPO, this research found that several employees contracted at high cost with predetermined deals. This agency also said that the investigation is ongoing.
