At least two dead in Iowa school shooting

At least two people were killed and another injured in a school shooting in Des Moines, Iowa, on Monday.

The local police say via social media that there are “several potential suspects in custody”.

Police Chief Paul Parizek later confirmed to several journalists at the scene that two students, who were reportedly injured, had died.

The third injured person, whose health condition is unknown, is a teacher at the Starts Right Here institution, according to CNN an autonomous school that helps young people in risk situations.

The school, which helps at-risk youth, was founded by Will Holmes, a rapper whose stage name is Will Keeps.

Emergency services went to the facility shortly before 1 p.m. (7 p.m. Lisbon time), which is located in a commercial park that also houses the office of the Des Moines Social Security Administration.

Governor Kim Reynolds, who sits on the Starts Right Here advisory board, said she was “shocked and saddened to learn of the shooting.”

“I have seen firsthand how hard Will Keeps and his team work to help at-risk children through this alternative education program,” Reynolds said in a statement.

“My heart breaks for them, these children and their families. Kevin and I [marido] we pray for his safe recovery,” he added.
