The US government is about to approve the delivery of M1 Abrams tanks to the Ukrainian armed forces, US officials said Tuesday, as allies debate sending such military equipment.
The decision, which if confirmed represents a change of plans by the Joe Biden administration regarding these US-made battle tanks, could be announced as soon as Wednesday, although it could be months or years before the M1 Abrams are delivered, the Associated reported. Press (AP).
Senior US officials told the AP, on condition of anonymity, that details were still being worked out, but the announcement could be made in coordination with Germany’s clearance of Poland’s request to transfer German-made Leopard 2 tanks to kyiv.
