Dresses, coats, swimsuits and heels: Many Ukrainians posted photos of themselves in leopard print on social media to show their support for sending the powerful eponymous German tanks to Kyiv, announced on Wednesday after much delay.
The head of the presidential administration of Ukraine, Andriï Yermak, joined the movement by publishing On twitter 14 leopard smileys on Wednesday, minutes after Berlin gave the green light for delivery of Leopard 2 tanks and permission for other countries to ship them from stocks.
Germany announced its decision after weeks of international pressure, accompanied on social media by a viral campaign launched by the Ukrainian government.

“Put on your favorite leopard clothes and post a selfie with #FreeTheLeopards. Let’s bring leopard (tanks) to Ukraine,” Ukraine.ua, the country’s official Instagram account, posted on Sunday. She posted a video that begins with an iconic scene from the movie. The fifth element, in which Ruby Rhod struts around in a leopard print outfit.
The video received almost 78,000 likes and was followed by a deluge of photos of netizens sporting smudged manicures, animal print bathing suits and leopard print fur coats. The hashtag has already been used more than 10,000 times.

“Now it’s official, the leopards will come to Ukraine,” the presidential party deputy Yevgenia Kravchuk greeted on Facebook, attaching a photo in a leopard-print turtleneck.
A photoshopped portrait of 19th-century Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko has also been recolored on social media for the occasion, his hat and coat turning leopard print.
After the German green light, other countries are also expected to send heavy tanks to Kyiv, with some in the Ukraine already having new campaigns in mind.
