Two people have been killed and several injured in a stabbing attack on a regional train in northern Germany.
The attack was confirmed by the local police to AFP, assuring that the alleged attacker has already been arrested. The suspect was captured by the German authorities at the train station in the town of Brokstedt.
The convoy where the attacks took place was traveling between Hamburg and Kiel. The regional secretary of the Interior, Sabine Sütterlin-Waack, said she was “shocked” by the attack and assured that “her thoughts are with the relatives and people closest to the victims.”
He also added that the authorities are “working hard” to determine the motives.
According to the German newspaper Der Spiegel, which quotes a police spokesman, it affirms that the attacker is a man and is between 20 and 40 years old.
Still according to the same newspaper, there are three seriously injured and four minor ones. The perpetrator of the attack was also injured.
