Russia denies shortage of ammunition and missile production

Russia on Friday denied that troops taking part in the military campaign in Ukraine are facing shortages of ammunition and missiles, guaranteeing that the country has even ramped up production of war materials.

“It is complete nonsense what our enemies say about Russia: ‘that we are running out of missiles, ammunition and other things,'” Serguei Chemezov, director general of the Rostec state consortium, said in an interview with the official Russian agency RIA Novosti. .

Rostec unites more than 800 companies, many in the military industry, employing a total of 600,000 people.

Chemezov added that, on the advice of the defense ministry, the consortium has “increased ammunition production several times — in some cases — dozens of times.”

Nevertheless, the official admitted to spending “high” on “all types” of ammunition: bullets for light weapons, artillery shells, for tanks and also rockets.

On the other hand, he stressed that the main effort of the companies in the Rostec consortium is aimed at meeting the requests of the Russian Ministry of Defense and that they do not intend to “relinquish positions in the international arms market”.

The company Rosoboronexport, an arms exporter from Russia (it is part of the Rostec consortium), “will continue to work on the orders planned by the head of state (Vladimir Putin) and by the government,” Chemezov added.

“In general, I can say that we are complying with this, despite the obstacles put in place by enemy countries. We are not going to give up our position in the world arms market,” he said.

Over the past 10 years, Russia has exported about $15,000 million worth of arms annually, of which $13,000 million corresponds to sales of Rosoboron exports.
