At least two people were shot and wounded in a shooting near the predominantly Palestinian East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan, near the Old City, Magen David Adom (MDA), the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross, reported Saturday morning.
“At 10:42 (11:24 in Paris), we received a call (…) reporting a terrorist attack (…) two victims at the scene,” MDA said in a statement. The attack took place in Silwan, a Palestinian neighborhood on the outskirts of the Old City.
In the aftermath of a murderous attack
A 23-year-old man was in serious condition and a 47-year-old man was in “moderate to serious” condition, according to The Times of Israel. Police said the suspected shooter was “neutralised”, without elaborating.
This attack occurs the next day. of an attack that killed seven people near a synagogue in East Jerusalem during the prayers at the beginning of Shabbat. An armed Palestinian opened fire, before dying himself. The day before, Israeli strikes hit the Gaza Strip, killing at least nine people.
