Russian diplomacy declared this Saturday “deeply concerned” and called on all parties to “maximum restraint” after the attacks in East Jerusalem and while the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues.
“We are deeply concerned by this course of events. We call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and avoid further escalation of tensions,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“The latest events clearly confirm the need to relaunch a constructive Palestinian-Israeli dialogue and renounce unilateral actions,” the statement said.
At least 7 dead in East Jerusalem
“We can only put an end to repetitive violence within the framework of a negotiation process based on the principles of international law,” Russian diplomacy said.
On Friday night, a 21-year-old Palestinian shot and killed seven people near a synagogue in East Jerusalem during Shabbat prayers, before being shot dead after a chase.
This attack came the day after an Israeli army raid on Jenin, in the northern occupied West Bank, which claimed the lives of nine Palestinians.
On Saturday morning, a 13-year-old Palestinian boy shot and wounded two people, a father and his son, in East Jerusalem.
