Israel announces measures against “terrorist families” after the latest attacks

Israel announced on Sunday a series of measures against the Palestinians, in response to the attacks this weekend, which include the revocation of benefits for the families of the attackers and their deportation.

“The Security Cabinet has made a series of decisions to combat terrorism and make terrorists and their supporters pay a price for doing so,” the office of conservative Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement.

These decisions come in the aftermath of the attacks in occupied East Jerusalem on Friday night, which left seven dead and five wounded, days after nine Palestinians were shot dead during clashes in an Israeli operation in the refugee camp of Jenin, a focus of the Palestinian militia movement. in the West Bank.

In response, Israel today announced six measures, including “revoking social security rights and fringe benefits for family members of terrorists who support terrorism” and “simplifying and expanding firearms licences” for civilians.

In addition, the statement announces a plan to “legislate the revocation of the Israeli identity documents of the families of terrorists who support terrorism”, an initiative already promoted by members of the far-right executive and whose discussion is scheduled for today, at the government office meeting.
