Ukrainian authorities have revealed that Russian artillery strikes on the town of Kherson, in the south of the country, caused the deaths of at least three civilians this Sunday, the EFE agency reported.
“At the moment we are aware that there are eight victims of the Russian attacks so far: three people died and five were injured with varying degrees of severity,” Kherson’s military administration said on the Telegram network.
The injured received medical attention and one is still in serious condition, the same source added.
Russian artillery strikes also damaged a number of civilian infrastructures, such as the Kherson Regional Clinical Hospital – where a nurse was injured -, a school, a road, a post office and a bank, as well as several residential buildings.
The city of Kherson, capital of the region of the same name and taken by Russian troops in March last year, was recaptured by the Ukrainian army on November 11.
Since then it has come under fire from Russian artillery, which has retreated to the right bank of the Dnieper River.
