The number of victims continues to rise. At least 7,200 people have died in Turkey and Syria after the earthquake that struck Turkey on Monday. Collapsed buildings, destroyed roads, damaged monuments… In the affected areas, the emergency services are working to find buried people and come to the aid of those affected by the catastrophe.
As international solidarity quickly mobilized at the state level, many people around the world are looking to donate to help those affected. To support this action, several NGOs specialized in these extreme situations have launched appeals. Here are a few.
• The Red Cross
The French Red Cross has launched a call for donations on its site, to “help the populations affected” by the earthquake. The funds raised will be used by the French Red Cross and its partners, the International Federation, the Turkish Red Crescent and the Syrian Red Crescent, the association specifies on its site.

• The Foundation of France
The Fondation de France, a philanthropy network, has announced that it is mobilizing 100,000 euros to launch an appeal for donations “to strengthen its action and provide emergency aid to populations affected by disasters” in Syria and Turkey. She explains that her “priority” is “to directly support local Turkish and Syrian associations, involved with the populations affected by the earthquake, without discrimination, and which have already proven their worth.”

• People said
The Secours populaire français has released 100,000 euros from its emergency fund to “act as quickly as possible with the victims”, providing them with shelter, food aid or even hygiene and care kits. The association also launched on Monday “an urgent appeal for solidarity and financial support for the victims of this disaster.” The money raised should go into your emergency fund.

• Doctors without borders
The NGO Doctors Without Borders is heartbroken by the earthquake: a member of its staff was found under the rubble of his house in Idlib, Syria, it explains on its site. MSF has already started helping the Syrian population, donating medical kits and mobilizing medical personnel in Idlib and Aleppo. The NGO also has an emergency fund, for which it has launched a new appeal. It allows “to act immediately wherever we deploy emergency aid, be it in Turkey in Syria but also in Nigeria, Pakistan…”, underlines the NGO.

• Oxfam France
The NGO Oxfam mobilizes its local teams in the face of the catastrophe affecting the two countries. It also offers to donate on its site, specifying that its efforts will focus on “access to food, clean water and sanitation, including the distribution of hygiene kits and temporary shelters.”

• UNICEF
Unicef, the UN agency dedicated to the protection of children, has created a donation page specifically for the situation in Syria. “The immediate focus is to ensure that affected children and families have access to clean water and sanitation services, which are essential to prevent disease in the first days of a crisis,” emphasizes UNICEF.

• Emergency Alliance
Emergency Alliance, an association made up of 6 French NGOs (including Action Against Hunger, Doctors of the World and Handicap International), has also launched a page dedicated to the situation in Syria and Turkey. The donations collected will be used by the NGO members of the association that “organize initial assistance to the victims of the disaster.” This aid provides for “primary health care”, psychological first aid, or even a “distribution of food aid and basic necessities”.
