The White House this Wednesday categorically denied being the cause of the September sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines, rejecting the allegations of a US investigative journalist.
In an article on his personal blog, Seymour Hersh wrote that U.S. Navy divers, aided by Norway, planted explosives in the gas pipelines connecting the Russian Federation and Germany under the Baltic Sea in June, activating them three months later.
This information is “totally false” and the result of “pure fiction,” said White House National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson.
The same response came from the CIA, where a spokesman assured that the article was “absolutely false.”
The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also denied any involvement by his country and deems the allegations false.”
